One evening a butterfly flew past her net.
Gertie was stuffed and she craved a good story
of monster adventures in all of their glory.
She took such a book from the book reading nook
and hoped that the book that she took would be gory!
The Great Moth Chase was On!
A family returned from a Contest for Scaring where Arthur had earned the award he was wearing.
It was Arthur who found the intruder at rest, and he knew what to do; it's what monsters do best.
Inside Gertie followed a silvery trail.
"Gastropod snot!? Well, hellooo, mister snail!"
Already a teddy was under the sheets.
She tucked herself in and stuck out her feets.
The monsters could see through the door that was open,
that all their belongings were scattered or broken.
Arthur tried hard as he could not to cry..
She opened her jaws and she started to yawn.
Peeyew! What a stench! Arthur wished she was gone.
So she didn't stuff Arthur head first in her net.
(Even though she suspected he'd make a great pet.)
He hoped they would rendezvous again. He even imagined how and when.
